  • The Olympic Experience

On the day that the winter olympics begin in Vancouver, I was thinking back to 4 years ago when I was in Torino for the games.  Man that was awesome!! Watching the torch relay and seeing all the different countries represented was incredible.  Torino was a great city to visit.  I remember how freezing cold the skiing event was and how I wished that I went to more events.  I also remember the nights in the city and the people.  I also got to see a lot of europe by rail (Monacco, Switzerland, Paris) and several sketchy train stations. I loved seeing the olympic memorablila and trading pins! I even got to hold a real torch and sit in a bobsled. I came upon the today show and got pictures with the anchors, too. Oh, how I wish that I was there...

Incidentally, 6 years ago at this time I was on my way to St. Petersburg to spend the semester there! Oh, the memories!

Hopefully I will get to take another trip soon.

  • Life in general

It has been a whirlwind time trying to learn my new job and train a new person at my old one! I have been working late every night, but it is getting better.  There are so many reports to learn!  Today I took the kids to a movie and saw "Leap Year" It was really good! I am going to a conference tommorrow and I will meet all the directors in the language company.  I am excited.

Tommorrow I will play cello in church for the first time! I played cello for 9 years and recently my mom bought me one for christmas! I used to play before but now I am nervous.

Today I went shopping for my birthday.  I got a $50 gift certificate to the jewelry store here in town and they sell vera bradley! So I bought a new bag that is gorgeous.

Next week is my second KP national board meeting so I am going to Ohio. yay!

Anyone want a kitten? I need to find homes for my strays that I rescued.

  • New job

I just accepted a new job as the director of The Language Company Tahlequah!  It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks!  I found out right before christmas and started training the week after christmas.  I have taught english before, but never thought I could be in charge of the program.  I am learning everything so fast and I am also trying to wrap up my old job.  Two paychecks at a time are nice though.  I am sad to be leaving NSU, however will still be at NSU.  I will miss my wonderful windows and going to Broken Arrow on wednesdays though.  The Language Company is a private company, so we don't have the budget issues like the state has.  The benefits aren't quite as good, but the pay is significantly higher.  Another important factor is that my new bosses are great and I don't have to worry about being supported.

  • baby kittens

A few weeks ago I noticed some kittens by the dumpster at the donut shop.  Me being the kind tenderhearted person that I am decided to rescue these kittens and then find them good homes.  However, this has been more of a challenge than I expected.  The kittens were living in the woods and not used to human contact.  So the first thing was to catch them.  We finally caught all four of them and now they are in my garage, however being only approx. 10 months old they can hide in the smallest spaces.  We are trying to let them know that we are there to take care of them, but the kittens of course don't understand this. They hiss and scratch.  We can't find homes for them until they are tame.  It is proving more difficult than I thought.

  • new office

After at least one year of waiting for a new office it finally happaned!  We moved to the library!!  Unfortunately I have to deal with 4 filing cabinets in my office, however I have wall space and the best part is...windows!! We were stuck in the caves in the basement and had no idea what the weather was.  I love how my wall turned out.

I used old calendar pictures to make a collage.  I also have a map with stars showing what countries are represented.  We also have a lounge with a flat screen tv, which is beyond amazing!

This weekend I am going to my first Kappa Phi National Board Meeting~ I can't wait!!
