| Kappa Phi CouncilI just returned from Dallas for Kappa Phi National Council of chapters. We meet every two years for business, election of officers, fellowship, etc. I have been in KP for 10 years and this was the second council that I attended. It is very interesting to see women that have been in Kappa Phi longer than I have been alive running around acting like they are 20-somethings! Two of the sponsors hosted a fun night in their room and we fit 31 people in there. It was really fun. the biggest news is that I somehow got picked to run for national treasurer. I really didn't want this, but after much incouragement I did it. I am a little unsure about it, but hey, with God all things are possible!! Now I really have to get motivated to finish my thesis before I get busy with KP stuff. | | |
| anniversary weekend & suchFor graduation my family came up to see me and it was great. Then Bryan and I left for Branson to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in a b&b and had a great time! I bought a really pretty vera bradley bag for a graduation gift! It was also great to have a vacation. Bryan was off all week so he came with me to BA and rode around the bike trail. Then we saw Angels & Demons. We liked it, but not as much as we liked the book. The saturday after we got back I left for a conference in LA. It was great to see Joy! I even learned a lot to help me in my job. The NBA playoffs were going on and I really wanted to go to a game but unfortunately had no money. I stayed in hollywood and read three books during the 30 min commute each way. I also tried mediterranean food one night. Now its back to work and time to finish the thesis, which unfortunately have no motivation for whatsoever. | | |
| graduation & suchSo I haven't posted in a while, but I have been working hard. NSU finally came through like they have been saying they were going to do since like October. I am excited to finally be full time now, but wish it was in a different place. I am going to graduate this semester, but my thesis is not quite done so I still have to finish that and I am trting to write one more paper for my last class, but it is so hard. Bryan and I are getting ready to celebrate our one year anniversary on the 17th. I can't believe its been one year~crazy! | | |
| my pianoSpring break was fun! Bryan and I got to actually spend more time than normal together! I went to OKC to see my family again, and now daniel is gone again for another year. We invited some friends over to teach us how to make pelmeni and I got a piano off Freecycle for free!! It was made no later than 1933 and is a cabinet grand with ivory keys. We have to get about four keys fixed, but it is beautiful!! I am so happy! | | |
| donut shop 20th anniversaryThis has been a week of celebrations! We got to see my brother, take wedding pics, celebrate NSU's birthday and celebrate the shop birthday, too. Yesterday at the NSU celebration there were several people wearing 1900s clothes. It was interesting. All the people from BA that I work with on wed were there. They all took a bus to tahlequah. There is a new statue of sequoyah too! The administration building has gotten a makeover recently and it looks nice because it really needed it. However it is also frustrating because there are so many other things that need money at NSU such as our office. We have like the worst office of anyone on campus and the least amount of money. My office is a closet that is right next to the mens bathroom and shares a vent. Needless to say sometimes it is not too fun to be in there. It amazes me that NSU is loosing students but no one wants to do things to encourage students to stay, like i don't know, fix up the resident halls or make things student friendly or many other things. We still don't have even a secretary! Anyway, Today marks 20 years of business for my in-laws donut shop. We had a sale of $2.00/dozen and .20 cent drinks. Bryan, his dad and the other night guy went in at 8pm to start making donuts! I went in at 2 am to start boxing donuts and it was non-stop until noon!! For bryan that was 16 hours of making donuts, and then we started cleaning up! Bryan and I came home and crashed! Hope everyone has a great weekend! | | |
